Q: Why pay more for a Custom Corset?

A: The first thing you need to know about off the rack Corsets is that they are NOT meant for regular wear or tightlacing. These are simply meant as fashion pieces, and often fall apart after prolonged wear. The reason is that they are usually made from only one or two layers of cheap material, loose stitching and low quality boning. Also, off the rack Corsets are made from pre-measured patterns, like Small, Medium, Large, etc.

However, if you were to spend more than retail price on a Custom Corset, not only would you have a Corset made for your specific measurements, you would also have the best materials for the best possible price. All of my Corsets are hand crafted and carefully made with attention to detail, and are each drafted for the client. Every Corset is made with high quality materials such as steel boning, steel busks and high quality Coutil; which prolong your Corset life dramatically.

Q: How much would a Custom Corset by Bodicious cost?

A: Prices vary depending on how intricate the work is and how expensive the materials are. My base prices are $300 for an Underbust, and $500 for an Overbust.

Q: How long will it take for completion/delivery of my piece?

A: Expect anywhere from 6-8 weeks for your piece — or more, depending on the work involved. This does not include the time it takes to ship.

Q: How does your payment system work?

A: A non-refundable 50% deposit (plus cost of materials) is required to start. The remaining balance is due upon delivery. This means if my fee for creating your Corset is $200, and the cost of materials is $200, then $300 (50% of my fee plus material costs) is due up front, and the remaining $100 upon delivery.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A: I accept either Paypal, or cheque/money order by postal mail. If you live in Ottawa, you can make your payment in person. Cash is also accepted in person.

Q: Do you accept rush orders?

A: Yes, I do! However, it depends on how many orders I have at one time. For regular orders I aim for 6-8 weeks, although if you need your order completed before that time, additional fees apply. The minimum time I can offer for rush orders is 2-3 weeks, not including the time it takes to ship. I do not accept rush orders with mock up service! Price varies depending on how much work is involved and how large your order is. Additional rush fees are listed below:

2-3 weeks: $100-$200
4-5 weeks: $50-$150

Q: What is a mock-up service?

A: A mock-up is a rough draft of your custom corset, made of a single layer of sturdy fabric, complete with boning and laces. This is used to determine if the corset is suitable for your specific body shape. This mock-up will be sent to you, so that we can see what changes need to be made (if any are needed). Once you have received your mock-up, you are required to send photos of you wearing your corset from the front, side and back views so that we can determine where to make the necessary changes. You can map them out with a permanent marker and use pins where darting is needed. The mock-up will add a few weeks time to your order, so time accordingly. I do not do mock-up service with rush orders!!! I am not responsible for the amount of time the the mock-up is with you, or if is damaged or lost in the mail.

Q: How much does a mock-up service cost?

A: A corset mock-up service costs $100 (plus the cost of shipping). I also offer mock-up service for larger items like gowns, although the price will be changed accordingly.

Q: Do you offer anything else besides Corsets?

A: Your wish is my command! I can create a statement dress for your prom, a wedding gown to say “Yes” to, a show stopping Burlesque ensemble and more. I also offer a variety of extras and accessories, such as Feather Bustles, Pasties, Top hats, etc… but if you have a special request that is not listed in my Order Form, feel free to contact me!

Q: Do you make Corsets for men and the transgendered?

A: Of course! I make Corsets for women and men of all body types, shapes and sizes! However, these pieces are differently tailored than women’s corsets, and involve more labor intense work. This is reflected in the price, which starts at $400 instead of $300.
